Thomas Reiner is one of the leading packaging experts in Europe, if not the world. He served as a member and chairman of the board at German Packaging Institute (DVI) from 1990 to 2018. He was a member of the board at World Packaging Organisation (WPO) from 1996 to 2018, a member of the International Association of Packaging Research Institute (IAPRI) from 1997 to 2018 and a board member at the European Packaging Federation (EPF) from 1999 to 2012. He founded the Global Local Branding Alliance (GLBA) and has been its president since 2015. He has been the member of the juries for the Sustainability Awards, Worldstar, the Dupont Award, the 3M Scotchban Innovation Awards, the ECMA Award and FEDES-Star, among others.
As CEO of Berndt+Partner, the consulting group that he co-founded in 1992, he advises clients worldwide on packaging design and business strategy. He has led numerous projects and provided personal consulting services for leading brand manufacturers, packaging and mechanical engineering clients such as Bayer, P&G, Nestlé, Mondelez, Tchibo, Coca-Cola, Dupont, BASF, Dow and Mondi, among others. The main topics on which he currently focuses in his papers or lectures are digital transformation, the circular economy and the culture and agility of businesses.
